IT'S TAYLOR TIME

It was Taylor's night! Congrats to Taylor Swift on her CMA awards. It seems like every year we field calls of that's country or that's not country...but regardless she's got the hardware and you can't take that away from her.

Glad to see that Jamey Johnson got some recognition...love his straight ahead country style. Would have preferred though to have him solo...why Kid Rock has to show up is beyond me.

Have a great weekend.

Every evening my daughter tells me I don't update my blog enough...so here ya go Kloe.

While she and my wife were watching Taylor Swift on "Dancing With the Stars" last night...I was reading the latest about Garth in Vegas. Garth hates scalpers, but that's exactly what's started to happen with tickets going for as much as $1600. In response, the Wynn has taken the following steps.

Wynn reserves the right to cancel any ticket and refund the $143 ticket price. Buyer beware: Anyone who pays more than face value for a ticket could lose all but the $143 face-value of that ticket.
Tickets were sold requiring ID from the purchaser, who must be one of the persons entering the showroom. That ID will be compared to what is on record with that party's tickets.
In addition, Wynn's legal department has sent letters to known ticket re-sellers informing them that they are not licensed Wynn Hotel Ticket Brokers and they are not, therefore, allowed to re-sell Garth tickets.

Either way...it's another big payday for Garth.

GARTH IN VEGAS

We'll find out officially Thursday with a Garth press conference but
The Las Vegas Weekly is reporting that Garth will hold a news conference at the Encore/Wynn theater, with owner Steve Wynn as host. The rest of us can catch it at Garth Brooks.com, where the announcement will be streamed.

It now seems extremely likely that Garth will become a resident headliner at the Wynn Hotel/Las Vegas in the theater that was to have been the longtime permanent home of the late Danny Gans.

NEW MIRANDA

Sorry I've been away for a few days...really busy in my world.

Several things have happened since I've been away.

#1-Taylor Swift...saw her in Tulsa Sunday night. Wow. She really is a Superstar. I must admit I don't always relate to the songs...but there are plenty of teens that do. The show is just incredible. Catch this show if you can...and take your kid...they'll thank you.

#2-Miranda Lambert...new CD "Revolution" out today. This is a must have for your country music collection. From her latest single "White Liar" to her rock side with "Maintain the Pain"...from start to finish this is a great listen. Not sure I've enjoyed a CD this much since Jamey Johnson's "That Lonesome Song".

CMA NOMINEES ARE IN

CMA Nominees: Entertainer of the Year

Kenny Chesney
Kenny Chesney has won seven CMA awards in his career, including four Entertainer of the Year awards (2004, 2006-2008), which ties him with Garth Brooks as the artists with the most wins in this category. Kenny won the Musical Event of the Year category in 2007 for the song "Find Out Who Your Friends Are," which he performed with Tracy Lawrence and Tim McGraw.

Brad Paisley
Paisley will co-host the CMA Awards with Carrie Underwood for the second consecutive year. Paisley, the reigning Male Vocalist of the Year, has won 11 CMA awards in his career, including Male Vocalist (2007, 2008); Album (2006 for Time Well Wasted); and Horizon (now known as the New Talent of the Year award) in 2000. Brad has won the Music Video of the Year award four times: 2002 ("I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)"); 2004 ("Whiskey Lullaby" with Allison Krauss); 2007 ("Online"); and 2008 ("Waitin' on a Woman" featuring Andy Griffith).

George Strait
Strait won a total of 22 CMA awards in his career -- the most won by any artist in CMA Awards history. With 79 career nominations, Strait is tied with Alan Jackson for being the artists with the most nominations in CMA Awards history. Strait has won two Entertainer of the Year awards (1989, 1990). He has also won five Male Vocalist of the Year awards (1985, 1986, 1996-1998), which ties him with Vince Gill as being the artists with the most wins in that category. In 2008, Strait won Album of the Year (for Troubadour) and Single of the Year (for "I Saw God Today").

Taylor Swift
Swift has won one CMA award in her career -- the Horizon award (now known as the New Talent of the Year award) in 2006. This is her first Entertainer of the Year nomination.

Keith Urban
Urban has won five CMA awards in his career, including Entertainer of the Year (2005), three wins as Male Vocalist of the Year (2004-2006), and the Horizon award (now known as the New Talent of the Year award, in 2001).

THESE ARE ODDEST COMMERCIALS EVER

Have you noticed those Cialis commercials and they show the couples in tubs in the oddest of places? Looking out over the ocean or in a field of flowing grass.
Nevermind that they are in separate tubs on a romantic getaway???
I don't know who comes up with this stuff, but I would love to hear of anyone who has sat in a bathtub, in the middle of the day, in the middle of a field just soakin' in the sun!

REALLY?

So with all the health care bill debate/madness...my wife sent me a link to the house bill yesterday so I could read it for myself and become more informed. Really? Over 1,000 pages.

I think that's the biggest problem...no one really knows what's in this thing. Put it on a couple of pages...dumb it down for all of us into plain English so we can understand it. Insanity!

On a lighter note...very cool video on King TV of Keith Urban and Jennifer Nettles singing "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" this past Friday in Tulsa.

Check it out...

GO THE CMAS WITH KKNG

The 43rd Annual CMA Awards is coming up November 11th in Nashville...and we want you to go with us. James Ayers and Village Tours & Travel have teamed up for a great bus trip to the CMAs and a great price.

For more info...here's the link http://www.villagetours.net/data/CMA-Texas500.pdf

You'll be hearing more about it in the coming days. I went to my first CMA Award Show two years ago and had a great time. My seat was at the very top of the arena...and during commercials you were allowed to go to the bathroom...but if you didn't make it back before the commercial break ended...you had to wait until the next one. I thought this was odd in the upper level seats because trust me, there was no way we were getting on television in those seats! Still a great, great time. I was there when Jamey Johnson thanked his ex-wife when he won his CMA for "Give It Away".

Have a good day.

B&D RIDE OFF INTO THE SUNSET

It's been a long run but Kix and Ronnie are calling it quits. They've had a great run and will come out with a greatest hits CD later in the year...and do a farewell tour in 2010...let's hope it makes a final stop in OKC.

Will they both embark on solo careers? It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

George Strait's new CD in stores today "Twang"...really good. Join Kaysee tonight at the Wal-Mart in Moore off of I-35 to get your CD and register for an autographed boxed set.

Have a good day.

Monday, August 10, 2009

HELLO MONDAY!

George Strait's new CD "Twang" hits record stores tomorrow. Love the 1st single "Living for the Night" and George rarely dissapoints. Kaysee will be at the Wal-Mart in Moore on I-35 tomorrow starting at 5pm...come by and get your copy and take a whack at the pinata...if you bust it open and get the gold coin you could win an autographed George Strait Boxed Set.

10 days and counting until the New Face Showcase...

BACK TO WORK

Been away for a few days...and what a great day to come back...Friday...that means the weekend is here!

Went away with the family for a few days to Dallas and then away with my wife for our 20th.

A couple of cool places to stay if you ever have the need...

Renaissance Worthington in Fort Worth is a great hotel and right in the heart of Sundance Square...and Shiloh Morning Inn in Ardmore is one of the neatest bed and breakfasts I've ever stayed in...6th time and it never dissapoints.

Saw some movies too...Ugly Truth is a chick-flick and Funny People good at times but a bit slow. Rented perhaps the most depressing movie of all time...Seven Pounds.

It's good to be back!

Thursday, July 30, 2009

SUGARLAND

Much has been made of Jennifer Nettles scrapping several performances lately because of voice problems and now Kenny Chesney has come to the rescue with this statement.

"It was really sad to see the way some people reacted to Jennifer needing to cancel her appearance in San Francisco last weekend -- and it seems to me we should all be concerned about her long-term vocal health more than any single show that she may not be able to do. Naturally I'm disappointed she's not out here with us -- cause she is a friend as well as an act I know the fans enjoy -- but I think it's more important that she have the time to heal properly, rather than forcing herself to try and rush back onstage. I know she'll be back before the summer, and can't wait to have her back out there. But it's about doing the right thing, and we should all be supporting her in that."

One thing is for sure...hope that she gets well soon...she plays with Keith Urban in Tulsa August 8th and headlines the Zoo with Billy Currinton on 9/11.
